Hiking Through Arizona

Mogollon Rim

The Mogollon Rim is a rugged escarpment at the southern edge of the Colorado Plateau. It offers expansive dramatic views and drops of up to 2,000 feet in certain sections. It showcases some of Arizona’s most breathtaking scenery, providing vistas from its rocky edge to the Mazatzals’ Four Peaks northeast of Phoenix. Pictures cannot do it justice.

I found this location while browsing the map of Arizona, looking for hidden gems. And I hit the jackpot! What actually drew me to this location was Woods Canyon Lake, nestled in between a thick brush of Ponderosa Pine. There is a small marina and a privately owned shop that sells goods and offers small boat rentals. You can bring your own boat if you wish, but the lake is restricted to electric motors only.

This is a great place for an outdoor enthusiast as it offers many recreation options. From picnicking, hiking, and fishing to camping, mountain biking and horseback ridding. The perfect place for a weekend get away. Prepared to be amazed!
